As the name suggests, Easter Ross is the eastern most part of the County of Ross and Cromarty in the Northern Highlands of Scotland. The area is rich in farming and until recent years, and major fishing community. The geography is widespread and varied in its use. A conglomeration of towns, villages and hamlets, swaddled by a mixture of arable and stock farming, managed forestry and vast rambling estates, all threaded together by scenic country roads and the most beautiful of Highland rivers and walkways.
There's plenty to see and do in this part of the Highlands - a variety of outdoor activities including wildfowl shooting (outings can be arranged), a veritable host of Golf Courses - no less than 15 (many of them championship grade) within a 25 mile radius of Shandwick Bay - Tain Links, the Royal Dornoch, Alness, Invergordon, and Muir of Ord to name just a few. Walking, fishing and pony trekking are all well catered for around these parts.
The nearby towns of Tain and Dornoch, Invergordon, Alness and Dingwall all offer their own unique flavour of attractions. Inverness, the Highland Capital is only a short 35 miles drive away and offers a busy shopping centre, sports centre and swimming pool.
There's little doubt you'll find plenty to do for the children as well as the adults, and when the sun shines you'll be hard pressed to drag yourself and your family away from the golden sands and lapping waves of the famous Shandwick Bay just seconds from your holiday home.
... enjoy ...
